History

The ancient city of Nashik had developed on both the banks of Godavari, which divided the city into almost equal halves. The History of the city dates back to Ramayana. There are many references of the city in many epics as well as vedas. The city, since old days, has developed on the banks with basically the design of a religious place. In addition, Nashik has always been the epicentre of commerce and trade. Ptolemy, the famous philosopher made a mention of Nashik in 150 BC, leading researchers to believe that it was probably the country's largest market place during that period.
